Welcome to my research website.

I am a researcher at the Institute for Plasma Science and Technology (ISTP) of the Italian National Research Council (CNR). I achieved my Ph.D. at the Department of Physics at the University of Calabria (Italy) in 2017. My Ph.D. thesis was mostly devoted to the analysis of collisional effects in weakly collisional plasmas.

My research activity mainly concerns the study of astrophysical and space plasmas. In particular, I am focused on the development and usage of massively parallelized algorithms to study the evolution of turbulence in space plasmas, such as the solar wind, at kinetic scales and to analyze the property of energy dissipation and plasma heating within these systems. I am also interested in describing the complex dynamics of very energetic particles, e.g. cosmic rays, in turbulent astrophysical environments.

Research topics (partial list…):

  • Plasma heating and energy dissipation in turbulent weakly-collisional plasmas, such as the solar wind;
  • Plasma turbulence;
  • Acceleration and transport mechanisms of energetic particles in astrophysical environments;
  • Waves and instabilities in nonneutral plasmas;
